I'm working on casting the male lead role in a suspense thriller short film I'll be directing, called "The Man from the Rocks." In the film we discover a thoroughly confused man whose face is completely covered in bandages, roaming the cliffs and caves of a mostly-deserted rock beach. While he at first tries to elicit the help of a lone beach-goer, the situation deteriorates as he becomes more and more unstable and, in his scattered state, loses control of his emotions. For the role, I'm looking for an actor who really wants something to bite into; in my mind it's a role in some ways like a Joker from "Dark Knight" or Rorschach from "Watchmen"--even though makeup obscures the face it offers tremendous latitude for energy and creativity. I see the character as caucasian (though I'm flexible on that part; don't let that deter you from submitting), trim to skinny, anywhere from the late twenties to late forties. I'm especially looking for someone who can capture the pathetic but haunting state of the character through voice and movement. I can't offer any money for the role, but I can offer meals, copy, IMDB credit, and a little gas money. The shoot itself will be done in a single day, still to be determined, probably in September or October.
